Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. I’m Alisa Marie Beyer, founder and CEO. Welcome to the Pink Panel, a community where PINK is passionate and powerful.
As a mom of two children, I need a business that I am passionate about and one that makes a difference. The result is a company that focuses on women, beauty and branding while also raising money to send parentless teenage girls to college.
Why women?
From attending an all-women’s college to working as a bridal model to building a women’s swimwear company from scratch, most of my professional career has centered on women. I love to listen to what women have to say. I love to talk. I am truly interested in what women buy and why. Women are natural bonders, we share, we tell you what we think and why. Women have voices that need to be heard.
Women are a huge and powerful market. Numbers don’t lie. Women make up 85 percent of all consumer buying decisions, and we earn over 1 trillion dollars annually. What women think matters.
Why beauty?
I fell in love with cosmetics as a teenager. They are such an important part of our lives. Understated, trendy or outspoken, our beauty products say something about who we are. Personally, I’m addicted to lipstick. It’s a bite-sized magic wand that transforms me on a daily basis.
The lipstick and perfumes we buy for special occasions and our everyday lives become prized memories. Women often remember occasions and events by what they wore, whether fashion or beauty products. I remember what I wore the day I first met my husband, the dress I wore to the hospital to deliver my first child and the pink skirt and vest my mother made for my first day of kindergarten. I also remember my first trip to the beauty counter and the day I wore red lipstick!
Throughout the ages, beauty products have reflected trends in how people think, live and love. Beauty products have been made illegal and then legal, a power symbol, a medicine, a poison, and a fix for instant sex appeal and glamour.
I started this company because I believe it is important to the fabric of our society for women to build companies that set high standards for workplace culture, productivity and support. I want a company for women just like me, women who are mothers, wives, divas, executives, artists, professionals or gurus—depending on the day—who love beauty and helping other women. This is what makes my business special.
It’s a wonderful challenge. Welcome to the team!
